The news story of Rey Wasserman's optioning her script 'Kicks' to Diane Ladd of Exxcell Entertainment was a front page article in Focus In. As an entertainment reporter, Rey went undercover to explore opportunities on the Internet for screenwriters. Ours was one of the sites she explored. Her script was discovered on our site by manager/producer Bill Bannon who brought it to Diane Ladd. Diane Ladd is a multi-award winning actor/director including three Academy Award nominations. Linda Nelson of Nelson Madison Films has optioned the script 'Forewarned' by Michael O'Neill and Stephen Pratt. Financing is in negotiation, the script is ready and name talent are currently being approached to star in it. Filming is expected to begin some time next year. Linda really likes both Michael and Stephen and is hoping to work with them on other projects as well. Linda produced the concert film for NSYNC which showed at IMAX theatres. Chuck Simon of S Pictures optioned the script, The Business of Superheros by Chris Love. Chuck just Executive Produced for S Pictures, Inc., two films for Sci-Fi Channel. Several months ago we announced that Greg Morgan of Coalmine Canary films hired Steve Atkin to write/co-write 'Spending the Night'. The script is finished and is now in pre-production. It is scheduled to begin filming in January of 2003 and Artisan Entertainment will be distributing it. Another of Greg's films, 'The Playaz Court' received broad video release this week and has enjoyed great reviews.

Kim Pederson signed a work-for-hire contract to write an action/drama script for Tim VandeSteeg of Vandy Productions. Tim produced and directed the feature film 'Mulligan' and has produced several specials for ABC, including 'The Making of The Music Man' which documents the TV production of the musical starring Matthew Broderick. Tim contacted Kim after reading her script 'The Field Trip' and, being impressed by the dialog, story and unexpected turns, hired her! This is Kim's first work-for-hire contract.

Mike Burns is writing a script in collaboration with Patti Walker of Walker Films on an idea of Patti's. Patti is the development exec for Clearwater Films who was searching for scripts. Patti was so impressed with Mike's writing that she is having Mike write something for her under her own production company's banner. Additionally, Patti is working with Mike on another of his scripts, The Kemper Resolution. Negotiations are currently in progress for talent, financing and distribution.

As announced on page 6 of the Hollywood Reporter (March 19-25), Signpost Films has acquired the pitch "Meet Jane Doe" from writing duo Chris Soth (Firestorm) and Collin Chang. This was for low six figures. There were a number of people who were instrumental in landing this deal. Brooklyn Weaver of Energy Entertainment was certainly one of them! Greg was so pleased with the work Randy was doing on the first script that he hired Randy to write another script. Coalmine Canary films has produced two movies, 'The Court' and '17 and Under'. Coalmine Canary Films is slated to shoot a new feature for Artisan this year.

Screenwriting duo Stacy Dymalski of Park City, Utah, and Zack Van Eyck of Murray, Utah, have optioned their original, feature-length script, "Jupiter Landing", to director David Winkler. Winkler most recently wrote and directed, "Finding Graceland", the Columbia Tri-Star film starring Harvey Keitel and Bridget Fonda.
