Cine Tirol is an initiative by the State of Tirol and the Tirol Tourist Office (Tirol Werbung GmbH) for the international promotion of the Tirol as the leading film location in the European Alps.
Location Austria - The National Film Commission
FISA - Film Industry Support Austria is an incentive by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy designed to support the production of motion pictures. Funding is possible for national productions, Austrian-foreign co-productions as well as service productions. The non-repayable grant amounts to 20 % of the eligible production costs (national and international co-productions) and 25 % for service productions. The basis for calculating the extent of the grant is a maximum of 80 % of total production costs. The maximum being 15% of the total annual grant budget.
We consult interested film productions in selecting suitable film locations, market Austria as a film location and act as an intermediary between the international and national film industries.

FILM INDUSTRY SUPPORT AUSTRIA (FISA)
Film Industry Support Austria (FISA) is a film fund of the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy designed to support the production of cinema films with an annual budget of 7.5 Million Euro. Funding is granted for Austrian productions, Austrian-international co-productions as well as international productions obliged to work with an Austrian service production company.
The non-repayable grant amounts to a maximum of 25% of the eligible Austrian production expenditures and is capped with 1.1 Million Euro, allocated on a "first come, first served" basis.
Basic requirements for international productions with an Austrian service production company are a minimum shoot of five days in Austria and total production costs of at least 8 Million Euro (feature films) with a minimum of 1 Million Euro spent in Austria. To qualify, the production has to pass a "Cultural Test"

VIENNA FILM FUND
The Vienna Film Fund subsidizes feature films for cinematic release (minimum length of 70 minutes), children's films and documentaries (minimum length of 59 minutes) and TV movies.
The annual budget for subsidies is 11.5 Million Euro. The maximum subsidy amount is 700.000 Euro. Funding will be granted for project development, script development, film production and film distribution.
An independent jury of experts selects the films on four scheduled submission dates. The decisive criteria for receiving a subsidy are the film project's cultural, economic and artistic significance for Vienna. At least 100% of the funds provided must be spent for employing Viennese film-industry workers, the city's film infrastructure or for Vienna as a location.

AUSTRIAN TELEVISION FUND
The Austrian Television Fund subsidizes Austrian films and co-productions involving Austrian and foreign partners. The annual budget for subsidies is 13.5 Million Euro. The maximum subsidy amount is 1 Million Euro for TV movies, and 200.000 Euro for TV documentaries and series (per episode). The minimum length is 23 minutes.
150% of the funding has to be spent in Austria. An Austrian co-producer as well as the cooperation of an international or national TV-station is necessary to apply for the funding. On four scheduled submission dates the general manager of the Austrian Television Fund selects films for subsidies.
Grants can be awarded to cover a maximum of 20% of reasonable overall production costs. The decisive criterion for receiving a subsidy is the TV production's explicit cultural significance for Austria or Europe.

The Austrian Film Institute is the national film funding agency supporting cinema productions as a cultural product and the Austrian film business. The annual budget for subsidies is 20 Million Euro. The maximum subsidy amount is 800.000 Euro.
Funding will be granted for project development, script development, film distribution and for Austrian films or international co-productions which were developed by an Austrian production company.
International co-productions may be eligible for funding if the Austrian co-production partner fulfills the funding criteria and the project complies with the respective interstate film agreement. Should no such agreement exist, the Austrian financial, creative, and technical contribution must amount to a minimum of 30 percent of the total project. In case of international co-productions, the Austrian Film Institute will only fund the Austrian portion of the project but will assess the entire production for eligibility.

As a free of charge service by the city of Vienna the VIENNA FILM COMMISSION supports national and international film and TV productions that aim to shoot movies, documentaries, advertisements or student films in Vienna. The VIENNA FILM COMMISSION acts as an interface between the Vienna City Administration and the film industry, particularly for the granting of film permits. It supports production companies in looking for suitable locations and service partners within the industry in Vienna.
