Egan found the appropriately-named title on the site while looking for potential projects that would fit his company’s need for ghastly, fun films. The contest-winning horror-comedy script with the straightforward name has been selected for the Screen Producers Australia Association competition. Egan directed the 2004 feature “Love in the First Degree.” Earlier this year, one of Balsam’s sitcom pilot scripts was optioned by StinkTV and is currently being shot in Los Angeles. Regarding “Blood-Sucking Leeches,” Balsam states that he “often thought of taking it down whenever it came up for renewal. However, the award-winning screenplay always got positive comments," and he "felt that the script just hadn't found the right producer." Balsam’s perseverance in refining his logline and synopsis paid off in the form of his second option to a producer who is passionate about his story.

Mario Domina with ThunderBall Films, LLC optioned "The House That Jack Built" by Margie Mack after discovering the script on the site. Her script tells the story of a murder and wrongful conviction in 1955 which permanently changed the face of politics and law enforcement in Chicago, and it's a particularly personal tale for her, because the real murderer - the one who escaped as someone else was imprisoned in his place - was Margie's father. Part of what got Mario interested in the project was a link in Margie's synopsis to a trailer developed for the film which helped him with the visuals of the story and era. Mario has a penchant for discovering and developing based-on-true stories; some of his other projects in development include "Escape from Paradise," a project based on Amazon's #1 Singaporean best seller for four consecutive years (where it was banned for political reasons), "The House of the Baskervilles," and "DragonMan," all three of which Mario discovered on InkTip. ThunderBall Films is also currently in pre-production on its feature indie project "The Beautiful Outsiders," with Corey Feldman, Malcolm McDowell and Samantha Fox attached to star. Writer Margie Mack has sold stories to the popular "Chicken Soup for the Soul" book series, but this is her first film success.

The new script is tentatively titled "Alien Revenge" and is slated to start production in the Spring of 2010. "'Alien Revenge' fits perfectly into our business model," said producer Bellware. The script was written by Mark Onspaugh and was discovered by Ramos through InkTip this past August. The project was financed, packaged and scheduled in just three months; principle photography commenced last week and has already attracted distribution offers, but has yet to sign a deal.

Masiela Lusha (of Sony's "Blood: The Last Vampire" and the “George Lopez” show), Dean Cain ("Hidden Camera," “Lois & Clark”), Nick Hogan (of VH1's "Hogan Knows Best"), and Stephen Coletti (of Newline's "Normal Adolescent Behavior") fill out the cast for this picture. Mark Onspaugh’s previous work includes co-writing the Newline cult zombedy "Flight of the Living Dead," and has garnered a bevy of options through InkTip already. William R. Greenblatt of New Symphony Pictures has optioned the feature script "The Angel Tree" by scribe Marissa Jo Cerar after discovering it on InkTip. Greenblatt, who runs New Symphony/Symphony and produced “Warbirds” and "Pucked" (Cary Elwes, Jon Bon Jovi), also produced "Home of the Giants" (Haley Joel Osmont, Danielle Panabaker), which is scheduled for release in 2010. Producer Kat Green, who also has a background in songwriting, composing and supervising soundtracks for major feature films, is developing the script for New Symphony. According to Greenblatt, the writer, Cerar, had a “smart, funny, heartwarming script” that was a good fit for their production slate. "The Angel Tree" centers on an orphan looking for a home during the holidays, only to be accidentally adopted by a self-absorbed PR exec.

Rotimi Rainwater with Village Entertainment emailed us recently to fill us in his relationship with Tony Aloupis, a writer he discovered on InkTip. You might remember reading about this in the trades, Rotimi originally discovered and optioned one of Aloupis' scripts on InkTip titled "Truckstop." He went on to produce and direct the film with Rachel Miner and Mimi Rogers in the lead roles, and with the assistance of Graham Taylor at Endeavor Independent handling financing and distribution. Rotimi has since put together or gotten hired on to a number of different projects with Tony, including "The Meaning of Life," a documentary about the eponymous philosophical conundrum, "Conversations with Andy," a documentary/biopic about the life of Andy Warhol, and "Black Samurai," a reworking of the 1970's graphic novel, and blaxploitation film of the same name. Tony Aloupis is also serving as an Executive Producer on "The Meaning of Life," proving that directors can not only find scripts, but writers and partners through InkTip.

And they were perfect for Mark Rodriguez ("No Rules" and "Payback"), who was looking for something for a family audience to take to his contacts. One of Mark's other projects well underway and in consideration with a major domestic cable network is "Dorsai," a sci-fi adventure series based on the classic best-selling novel (which was also discovered on InkTip).

Chris optioned the script in 2008, then titled "Samaritan," and attached Angela Bettis to helm the supernatural thriller. Angela made her directorial debut on 2006's feature "Roman" (Kristen Bell) after becoming known as an actor in such roles as the eponymous "May" in the 2002 horror film. "The Bystander Effect" centers on an investigative reporter and detective who find themselves not only as spectators, but as participants in a curse they must try to stop. Trancas International Films has discovered the sci-fi TV pilot “Jake in Flux” after putting a call out to our writers. If the name Trancas International rings a bell, it might be because you’ve seen it the eight films they produced for the “Halloween” franchise. But horror isn’t all they do. Trancas also has a pretty heavy slate of television projects in various stages of development. Of course, finding the right TV pilot can take some time. Vice President Sammy Montana described this process to us in an email recently: “We had trouble finding unoriginal ideas told in an original way for Sci-Fi pilots. This all changed when we found Jeff Reese's “Jake in Flux” on InkTip. We were very happy to find Jeff's script, and our Sr. VP was also very excited about it, so this one was a definite no brainer." And it was a good fit all around, according to Jeff Reese who stated, “You always hear the horror stories about writers pitching their projects to stone-faced pod people, but I have to say when I met with Bret and Sammy at Trancas, it was the most comfortable and positive experience ever. The boy must keep the critter out of the clutches of an assortment of crazy aliens who are racing to collect the zillion zaboodle bounty to bring the creature home. After landing the option, Heltay had this to say: "I can't imagine how a Canadian screenwriter could connect with a production company in Tblisi, Georgia without InkTip!" Writer Matt Lutz is an accomplished musician and playwright finishing up graduate studies in screenwriting at the University of Southern California. Three other companies agreed, and a bidding war ensued - but Breven was able to secure the option after meeting with the writer in person and pitching her vision to him. And she'd already set up some tentative meetings with investors before even securing the option, so once the deal was signed, she quickly called her contacts to let them know they were ready. Breven is an actor, editor, director and producer, with a bevy of credits to her resume, including the green feature "Native Land," about a volunteer in Africa who facilitates the locals in building a sustainable farm. This project is unique because they're building an operational sustainable farm to leave behind for the village where they're shooting the film in Southern Sudan and DR Congo. Originally from Venezuela, Gaviria has an acting background, and starred in over 60 telenovelas before moving to the US to pursue his acting career in American film and television. Since starting his stateside career, he's managed to score small parts in such films as "Bad Boys II" and "The Wedding Video," which coincidentally was found on InkTip. "Maras" is his first option as a writer.

New Palace Films Options “The Book of Job”
Gabriel Horn with New Palace Films has optioned the feature comedy script “The Book of Job” by Andy Cies after discovering it on InkTip. Now you may be asking yourself, “Someone wrote a comedy based on the Book of Job? Seriously?” Gabriel, who was looking for a faith-based script that would appeal to a mainstream audience, said, “There are plenty of ‘Job’ scripts available, but Andy’s script stuck out precisely because it was listed as a comedy! My first thought was [that] either this is going to be a very clever and well-written script, or it’s going to be a terrible waste of time. To say the least, this is one of the best scripts I’ve ever read! I knew I’d found the perfect film project.” Writer Cies described the process which led to this option: “After a year of writing and editing ‘Job,’ I sent it out to a few screenwriting competitions and was fortunate enough to win an award, which led to another year of editing and rewriting. Throughout this process, InkTip proved a better resource than I could’ve hoped for – much more than the 150-plus query letters I sent out!” Of course, placing the script on InkTip may have resulted in an option, but it was his diligence in rewriting the script that really made the story perfect for New Palace Films. Gabriel Horn joined InkTip with over ten years of production experience under his belt and will be co-producing this feature with Gavin Wilding and Rampage Entertainment. This is Andy Cies’ first option.
